The video shows 30 minutes of live printing a selection of tweets between 8:13 and 8:47 pm at the evening of the french election on May 7th, 2017, containing the hashtag #La Presidentielle2017. Independent centrist Macron has defeated Marine Le Pen by 65.1% to 34.9% according to French state television estimates, as counting continues. Tweets are mostly in french.
The software is still in development and does not show all french special characters correctly. The printer is part of a media art installation currently in development by the artists Jens Semjan and Bernhard Lermann. This is the first piece of a media art installation that we are planning right now. It is a receipt printer printing a number of live tweets with the query to:realdonaldtrump. A specific amount of tweets are fetched in real time by a java applet (coded by Rahul, thanks!) and sent as simple text to an EPSON TM-T88-IV printer. Watch the video:
